About
This Site
Associated Knowledge is written by David Sabol. This site provides insight and conversation that takes place at the intersection of learning, knowledge, technology, and community. Associated Knowledge came about as I realized that one of the things I have enjoyed the most about any job of my jobs has been helping people learn and grow. Therefore, this site is my attempt to help people “connect the dots” and understand how technology, knowledge and community interact and interrelate and hopefully meet some great people and learn as I go.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
There are many other aspects of this site that I hope to develop in the near future — using technology to enable authentic interactions, innovation, learning and community building in both professional associations and organizations in general. Please feel free to contact me or leave a comment on the site if there’s an idea or suggestion you have on how I can improve it. Thanks for reading.
The only irreplaceable capital an organization possesses is the knowledge and ability of its people. The productivity of that capital depends on how effectively people share their competence with those who can use it.
The Author
I’ve worked and studied in the fields of education, human resources, technology and learning management (including academic institutions, start-up’s, Fortune 500 corporations and associations) for the past 10 years.
Currently, I split my time between a number of really interesting pursuits. Part of my time is spent as a freelance web developer where I work with small businesses, associations and not-for-profit organizations and help them translate their technology goals into reality. I especially love the interaction of social media marketing and technology and like playing at the intersection of strategy and implementation of Social Media to increase business results.
I have also become extremely involved in the Drupal.org project where I am helping lead the way for reviving the Drupal Dojo – a learning community for aspiring Drupal developers where they can connect with more seasoned Drupal developers to lessen the learning curve. I am an extremely enthusiastic believer in FOSS.
Another portion of my time is dedicated to online learning development and I work with a handful of great clients helping them design and develop sustainable and effective online learning interactions. Finally, I am also an adjunct professor of education for a state university in Pennsylvania where I teach a graduate course and also consult with the department on the effective use of online learning.
I guess you could say that where people, learning, technology and effective communication come together is where I feel most at home.
Previously, I worked in community and leadership development and learning management in the member and volunteer area of a global professional association, where I get to do some really interesting work in the learning and technology areas. If you’re still curious to know more about me, you can also check out my personal website. I am a member of ASAE where I an active volunteer with the Professional Development Section Council. I am also a member of ASTD.
